As Salaamu Alaikum, I recently embraced Islam in August. I'm 34 years old. I was raised in Tennessee as a Christian Baptist. I now live in Chicago IL, my birthplace. I formally took my Shahada given by my husband at our Nikkah, on August 24, 2002. This is my first Ramadan, and what an experience this is!!! It is truly a blessing to experience this "complete life change" that I am going through...submitting my will to Allah (SWT), and LIVING IN WORSHIP to Allah (SWT). Even though it gets rough sometimes, I persevere, and read the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). I read about his wives (may Allah be pleased with them), and the fitnah they endured...I am content inside now, because I know exactly what to do to gain the pleasure of Allah (SWT)...I've been searching all my life for an applicable way to please Allah (SWT) (the Bible wasn't thorough enough for me, and Church was just ONE day a week)I wanted to know how to decipher Satan's whispers, and stay away from situations and people in this world that can get you all mixed up. I prayed my heart out to God because I had had ENOUGH...I just went straight to my Creator and begged him to change my life for me, because I couldn't do it by myself...and Alhamdulilah!! Allah brought me to straight Islam, and I readily accepted, because His signs were SO clear to me. May Allah reward you for your efforts.
